A new breed of folk heroes in the early seventies spawned a new era in country music in Australia.
Australia was on the move and the road transport industry - the truckies - were doing the moving. At the peak of the boom there was 468,552
trucks of all descriptions registered in Australia. When you count the people involved - drivers and families, transport companies, Truck manufacturers, service stations,
roadhouses, CB radio operators and retailers, and the many associated industries supplying tyres, fuel, libricants, tarpoulins, service and countless spare parts outlets -
the percentage of the population involved with road transport is enormous. A whole bunch of truck oriented magazines appeared on the news stands and even the daily
papers has a truck suppliment on the weekends.
